Speaker 1:

Hey, Wits and Weights family, I just have a quick bonus episode for you. I was thinking about the word physique. Actually, I think about it quite a bit because of Physique University, and when you think of that word, you probably think six-pack, abs, muscles, symmetry, the stuff that we see visually, the stuff that you see on your Instagram feed. But that is really just scratching the surface, because I believe that physique isn't just about how you look. It is about all the things with your body how you move, how you feel, how your body supports you through your life. So I was thinking what do we mean by physique? What are the different elements that you can represent with your physique? The first one is physique as strength. Right, Physique isn't just for show. It's like the engine that lets you, you know, do all the things you do in life. The stronger you are, the more muscle you build, the more resilient your body becomes. It, then, is part of your physical identity. It is proof that your physique is working for you, you know, not just against gravity, just to keep you alive into decrepitude of old age. That's a really meaningful thing. Then we have physique as function. Can you carry your groceries in one trip and like I like to do with my ego. 10 bags at a time? Can you sprint after your kids or grandkids hike up a mountain without stopping? You know that is your physique in action, that's in motion as function. A true, you know, capable physique isn't static, but it's dynamic, allows you to do more, to live more, to engage more fully with the world.

Speaker 1:

Then we have physique as health. This is massive. Muscle mass is protective against disease. Strength training improves bone density, insulin sensitivity, cardiovascular function. Your physique literally extends your lifespan and your quality of life. So, again, it's not just about looking good but also living well.

Speaker 1:

And finally, we have physique as confidence and identity. This is mental, emotional health. Your physique tells your story. It reflects your discipline, your care, your growth, the attention you put into yourself. It's not about fitting into an ideal but really owning your body composition as your version of whatever optimal means strong, capable, healthy. So the next time you hear the word physique, I want you to go beyond picturing just biceps and how you look. Think about strength, think function, think health and think identity. That, to me, is the true definition, it's the one that I want you to carry with you on this journey. And if this is home. If you enjoyed this very short episode, which hopefully my thoughts helped you reframe what physique means, all I want you to do is text this episode with a friend. That's it. Just share this with someone else who might find it interesting and make sure you're following this podcast for our next big episode, and I will see you on Monday.
